AAAW is starting a youth mentorship program and are recruiting fun, thoughtful, adult adoptees that want to make a difference in young adoptees lives thru relationship building and mentoring. This program is fresh and by being part of it now, you have the opportunity bring your ideas and passion to shaping AAAW’s youth program.

The PROGRAM: The official program will begin Fall 2013 (October), but we are recruiting mentors to begin with the SPRING/SUMMER KICKOFF program and to continue into the 2013-2014 program.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: The program consists of monthly events with adult and youth adoptees. Small groups of mentors and mentees will be formed (so you will not have a one-on-one pair.)  Events will generally be on 3^rd Saturday of every month. Events are still to be determined but FUN things like:  trampoline parties, picnics, outdoor movies, and other activities which we all enjoyed as kids. The most significant piece is that you will be building relationships with young adoptees and truly impacting our community.

THE COMMITMENT: We are asking that mentors commit to attending as many events as possible, at least three quarters of all events, and to think about the time commitment. This is really for the youth and being consistent.

All new mentors will be required to attend

AAAW (Adult Asian Adoptees of Washington) is proud to annouce the development of a Youth/Teen Mentorship Program for adopted Asian youth and teens. We’ll hosting a outreach event for the program with a recreational activity to gain interest and begin recruiting for our Youth/Teen Mentorship Program.

This outreach event is open to ANY Asian adoptee youth/teenager and their families!  As well as ANY adult adoptee who may be interested in becoming a mentor.

When: Saturday, June 9
Time: 12-3pm
Where: Carkeek Park, Seattle, WA
Picnic tables 8, 9 and 10, near the play area

Hamburgers/hotdogs, snacks and refreshments will be provided by AAAW.

The event is being chaperoned by The AAAW Youth Committee, comprised of Aaron James,
Patty Sang and Beth Van Fossan, will be on hand to answer any questions.

Come Help and Support our Teen Community!
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Come out on Saturday, October 23rd for a fun-filled night with the Teens of Asian Adult Adoptees of Washington!  This weekend retreat will begin with eating pizza at Round Table Pizza in Mill Creek, then getting lost/spooked at Stocker Farm’s Corn Maze, and conclude with a raging karaoke contest with Korean snacks at Mr. Tim Holm’s residence!

Don’t miss out on this awesome event!

We need adult adoptee volunteers (18+ years old) for this event who are willing to help provide transportation to the corn maze and to Tim Holm’s residence as well as supervising.
