Join the IKAA Gathering in Amsterdam from August 6-9, 2009!

For the first time since the Oslo Gathering in 2001, Korean adoptees in Europe and from around the world now have a unique opportunity to meet again in Europe, in the exiting city of Amsterdam. The conference takes place at the historical Hotel Arena in the city centre.
The Dutch and Danish associations for Korean Adoptees, Arierang (www.arierang.nl) and Korea Klubben (www.koreaklubben.dk), have joined forces and are working together to organize and co-host a fantastic event this August. Both associations are founding members of the IKAA Network.
Check out the preliminary itinerary (http://gathering.ikaa.info/en/page/422)  and register (http://gathering.ikaa.info/en/page/414) today!

What are the costs?

Register early and save 20%!

Before April 30 the conference fee is only €100 per person. From April 1 to July 15, the regular fee is €125. After July 15, the late fee is €150.

The conference fee includes:
Conference materials, Thursday Evening Welcome Reception, All Friday workshops and sessions, Lunch on Friday, Coffee and tea breaks, Entrance to the Friday Night K-Pride Party in the club "Tonight" (next to Hotel Arena), one of the most trendy clubs of Amsterdam (we have arranged a private balcony for the Gathering guests), Entrance to Saturday sports activities, and the Saturday Evening Gala Dinner.

Hotel Arena

The Gathering venue will be the Hotel Arena (http://www.hotelarena.nl/index.php?id=10 ), one of the most stunning meeting places on the edge of Amsterdam's city centre. The hotel has  historical conference rooms and has recently been renovated, carrying a four star rating.

We have negotiated an exclusive room rate for Gathering participants per night: €139 + 5% city tax (normal rates are €289!).

To make a reservation, download the special form on the IKAA website (http://gathering.ikaa.info/en/page/417).

Amsterdam
The Gathering will be located in Amsterdam (www.iamsterdam.com ), a unique metropolis with canals, a vibrant nightlife and trendy design which attracts thousands of visitors each year. Optional cultural activities to discover the city will be arranged. More information will soon be available.

IKAA
Formally established in 2004, IKAA is the largest existing network of international Korean adoptees, reaching out to thousands worldwide. All IKAA associations are well established within their respective communities, organizing regular events and activities, and have an organizational structure and membership comprised almost entirely of adult adoptees.

The mission of the IKAA Network is to enrich the global adoption community, promote the sharing of information and resources between adult adoptee associations, strengthen cross-cultural relations and innovate postadoption services for the broader international adoptee community.

If you need any assistance or have any question, please send us an e-mail gathering@arierang.nl.

Help Spread Awareness of Korea's Birth Mothers
Resilience is the first-ever documentary film to tell the deeply-moving, personal stories of Korea's birth mothers. These women's stories need to be heard in order to spread awareness and understanding about a side of international adoption that has often been misunderstood and overlooked.

Resilience is an independent production made possible by a team of dedicated filmmakers and volunteers. A 38-minute work-in-progress has been complete but more funding is needed to finish the project for an expected release in spring 2007.

If you'd like to contribute to the making of Resilience contact:

All donations made in the U.S. are 100% tax-deductible by law.
