2002 Mariners Game

On a crisp, but dry, Saturday afternoon, Asian Adult Adoptees of Washington (AAAW) held its first ever Mariners day for it members on June 8th, 2002. The opponent was the Chicago Cubs and their home run king, Slammin’ Sammy Sosa. More than 40 adoptees and family and friends participated in this event, where the Mariners obliged by winning 4 to 2, thanks to 3 RBI’s by Desi Relaford. It was great to see all the familiar faces in attendance, as well as some old friends and some new ones. Five persons joined us from the Portland adoptee group, driving up from Eugene and Corvallis, and it was good to see our old friend Saul Cornwall back in town for the game, along with a number of friends that he brought with him. All of those attending the game spent lots of time eating, talking and walking around the stadium, as well as watching the Mariners beat the Cubbies. And we know that many of you enjoyed the various foods offered at Safeco Field, including those fragrant garlic fries! We would encourage all members to remember these various activities that AAAW has scheduled during the year, as listed in the website and on the calendar, and participate in as many as you are able. It’s a great opportunity to see old friends and to make new ones. Thank you to all those members that participated and helped with this event, and a big thanks to those that drove to the game from out of town. We hope that all of you had a good time, and will look forward to seeing you at future AAAW events! Tim Holm Treasurer
